Monovision is a method of vision correction that allows one eye to have a clear distance capability, while the other eye has a near vision capability. The part of your brain that handles vision usually is able to "learn" to focus with one eye or the other depending on where the person wants to focus. Your optometrist can provide you with monovision with contact lenses. Other ways to get monovision require surgery including cataract surgery or Lasik. If you are considering a permanent vision adjustment to monovision, it is recommended that you try the method out with contact lenses prior to surgery.
