| Calvin Dalton II
- Optometrist |
|
Dr. Calvin Dalton is a member of the Georgia
and American Optometric Associations, the American Optometric Society,
VOSH Southeast.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical
Sciences at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI in 2000,
focusing on a premedical and physics curriculum. It's here where he
learned to be a "techno-geek". "Having the best technology has always
allowed me to work at the highest level."
Dr. Dalton earned his
Doctor of Optometry in 2004 at the Illinois College of Optometry in
Chicago, IL. He served internships at the Hillman Hines Medical Center
in Chicago, IL, the Tallahassee VA outpatient Centers, the Chicago Low
Vision and Rehabilitation Centers at the Hines VA center, and
Mid-Florida Eye Cataract and Laser Institute in central Florida. He has
been certified by the National and State Boards (Georgia, Michigan and
Illinois) of optometry to practice full scope optometry with a focus in
the management and treatment of glaucoma, macular degeneration and
systemically derived ocular diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.
Following graduation, Dr. Dalton moved to the Cleveland, GA area and
practice in commercial, surgical and private practice settings around
Atlanta until he was finally able to co-found Dalton Family EyeCare in
October of 2005 with Dr Joan Sears, OD, FAAO. Being in Cleveland has
allowed him to pursue a great quality of life, enjoy hiking the
beautiful North Georgia mountains and learn how to ride a road bike
while he aspires to become a cyclist. A native of Michigan, and an Eagle
Scout, Dr. Dalton has always loved the outdoors. Camping, fishing,
hiking and boating have always been an integral part of his life.
As a student at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL,
Dr. Dalton worked with Special Olympics in Chicago to provide eye exams
for the athletes. In November of 2007, he accompanied VOSH (Volunteer
Optometric Services for Humanity) to Cameroon, Africa to provide
eyeglasses and medical services to people in rural Cameroon (many of
whom had never seen another doctor in their lives). Currently, Dr.
Dalton and his team provide complimentary exams for the Lions Club and
Infant-see programs through the American Optometric Association.
Recently engaged, Dr Dalton and his fianceè Ida Cardona are busy
planning their wedding and spending time with family and their dog,
Ralphie, when they aren't at work. |
