Recent News... To better serve our patients,
we have added two retinal imaging systems. One system that will
photograph and help us to evaluate the center of the eye, and one to help
with the very outlying structures. Both pieces of equipment are of the
highest technology and will compliment our already extensive eye health
evaluations.

Optomap

This is a revolutionary way to
examine the retina without the need of dilating drops that blur your vision.
The Optomap retinal exam takes a computer generated image of the retina in a
fraction of a second which can be immediately evaluated by the doctor.
This new technology is called a scanning laser
ophthalmoscope and it can capture a single, high-resolution color image of
virtually the entire retina.
The image is captured in 0.25 seconds with a comfortable green light.
This instrument allows us to view the retina without having to dilate the
eyes.*
This technology is completely safe! We can more closely monitor eye diseases
such as diabetes, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. We can also detect
subtle retinal changes including: retinal tears, retinal detachments,
bleeding in the retina, or ocular tumors over time.
*Dilation may still be required in some cases.
The Optomap increases the quality
of the retinal exam by allowing us to view almost the entire retina, not
only for detecting eye disease, but also in detecting and managing other
medical conditions such as diabetes. We recommend that all patients have the
Optomap.
